Costa, the nation’s favourite coffee shop, currently has over 1,500 sites in the UK. The chain is know for the warm and welcoming atmosphere of its stores and ethical principles, having been the first UK coffee chain to source its beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.
To complement the rich aromas of Costa’s coffee, Mood music experts designed a custom playlist featuring up-and-coming singer songwriters. By supporting new artists, Costa gives off a cool and aspirational feel to their in-store environment and enables their customers to be the first to hear new music, while enjoying a cup of coffee. To provide a nice juxtaposition, Mood also interspersed the music channel with more familiar and upbeat, non-intrusive tracks from the likes of Boards of Canada, Nightmares on Wax, Morcheeba and Aim.
Due to the success of Costa’s in-store music experience, Mood created a completely different and bespoke playlist to support Costa’s new concept store Costa Fresco, on Tottenham Court Road, London. Mood’s music designers created a unique sound to match Costa’s desire to encourage food sales and customers to stay longer in-store.
